NOTE DIFFERENCES FROM WHAT WE KNOW NOW…….
Oh what a tangled web we weave
By Marty Carlson
In light of the recent revelation concerning Michael Cooley and EULA Keys here is the video interview that they did with the Turlock Journal that was done sometime around August 2015.
There are several keynotes in this interview that I will point out as I am playing this while I am writing this out.
The first thing that I note is that he stated that he first met Corey Kaufman 20 years ago when he was all strung out in front of a convenience store panhandling, and he and Corey had become good friends and Corey tried to get him off the drugs. And he stated that he did get off drugs.
Note: 20 years ago at that time Korey would’ve been about six years old, but he says “they became good friends and was a good guy and they always hung out together.”
He went on to say that they recycled together, and he told me his problems I told him mine. Again he was about six years old.
He stated that Corey had been over to his house earlier that day, and he needed $400 to pay the registration for his dad’s truck. Now I don’t know what kind of truck Korey Kaufman’s dad drove, but I drive a fairly new truck myself and my registration costs about $300 a year.
Michael Cooley says that they were playing horseshoes in his backyard and they saw the pipe laying in the backyard of the adjacent property and told him they would both go back later and get it. Sounds like a consciousness of guilt or conspiracy to commit a crime to me.
He then told Corey later on that he saw some people walk around the back yard and told Corey not to do it but apparently he did it anyway, then Mike Cooley puts his head down and shakes his head as an attempt at a somber moment of reflection. Or he was thinking of his next lie.
He then went on to say the next morning he looked over the fence and saw the pipe was gone, and only he, Korey, and his brother knew that it was there. Michael Cooley went on to say he knows that Korey was over there because he looked over the fence in the pipe was gone. And he said that he knew he went over that fence. The question I have if Cory got caught going over there to steal that pipe why is the pipe gone, it would still be there if he got caught.
Here is the video:
Michael Cooley went on to say the Frank Carson was continually coming over searching his house, kicking his doors in, after saying that every time he came over he let him search the house. Sitting in court for 10 months now we have now learned that is not true either.
He stated that Frank Carson had confronted him at his property seven or eight times, Was over to three times a month and was a real angry guy, in fact he said Frank Carson told him that he was going to “beat his ass.” Anyone that knows Frank Carson knows that wouldn’t happen. He also stated that he did not know what Frank Carson was talking about until the seventh or eighth time he came over.
Note: EULA Keyes in her testimony in the prelim she testified that they were had taken a lot of property from the property and sold them at antique dealers in the area and the mountains. And in an additional note Michael Cooley was quoted by a witness as saying they probably taken a half a million dollars worth of property from those containers.
He also stated that for someone to take Korey’s life over $300 worth of aluminum, and then he gave a dramatic pause, and said he loved him like a son, where did that aluminum go and who got the money Mr. Cooley?
He went on to say that Korey must’ve gone over there, because when he got up the next morning his bike was still there and he must’ve gotten caught. If Cory left his bike there and he was like a son to him why did he tried to hide his bike from Korey’s family, and in fact eventually buried it to hide it in the backyard? Isn’t that a consciousness of guilt?
Also let it be noted that during the initial interviews with Michael Cooley, in the missing person case of Korey Kauffman, it was noted in the police reports by investigators that Michael Cooley was continually talking about Corey in the past tense. He would make statements like he was a good kid, or he used to do certain things and when he was around. These interviews are being done in March and April 2012.
Now recent court testimony by the $200 an hour expert, Jim Cook, revealed that Corey Kaufman’s phone was probably in the possession of Michael Cooley and EULA keys as they are the ones that are calling the phone in April 2012. The phone was turned off and not being registered on the tower until just before those calls were made. They were calls into Korey Kauffman’s phone, no calls out were made from Korey Kauffman’s phone, and they were all short in duration of about 20 seconds or less.
This is information that defense attorney Tim Rien managed to painfully extract the cell phone expert who didn’t want to admit it.
Below I noted all of the court case index for Michael Cooley, note there is multiple drug sales and possession charges, but there are other charges to like burglary and weapons which are indicated, in my opinion, a direct result of drug use. So you tell me if he ever got off the drugs.
Do you think investigators are willing to reinvestigate this as to who actually committed this heinous crime?
Decide for yourself, here is the court index for Michael Cooley:
