1. 8th Amendment and the Carson 8. Especially Walter Wells. Question- Are they violating certain individuals 8th Amendment Rights considering the below-

“…..the Eighth Amendment protects individuals against abuse of privilege.”

“….. and whether there are strong indicators that the accused might flee the jurisdiction to avoid trial. Such considerations include whether the accused has strong ties to family and community, steady employment in the community, and whether he has sufficient financial resources to flee.”

“… the government’s proposed conditions of release or detention not be ‘excessive’ in light of the perceived evil.”

    “…perceived evil”

Is there a perceived evil with the people in jail? They have no criminal history, right? Can a judge reconsider the bail?

Micah, I saw your video about your dog and it made me very sad. I am very sorry for your loss of such an important part of your family. I do consider animals a major part of people’s families.

    1. dawg417 – I am the guy people love because I am so honest, But then they get pissy when I do the same with them.
      dawg417 says:

That’s a good point but what’s the remedy? How does it stop.
They are using bail in the custody status as a form of punishment now as in direct violation of its intent and purposes

      1. And I think the spirit of the 8th amendment, our Bill of Rights, is there to protect us from what is going on now.

Do not start me on the 2nd Amendment. I don’t own a gun only because I am a bit clumsy and believe if I chose to, I might accidentally shoot my eye out, or even try to holster it and shoot my dick off. My choice. I want my neighbors to own guns though. I want good people to own guns. Anyway, the spirit of the 2nd amendment was not put in place so that people could go hunting. I am sick of hearing the argument that goes something like “No one needs a gun that powerful for hunting!” The 2nd Amendment is about people armed to protect themselves from the government stepping all over our rights. I am sorry about what happened in Texas last week, but the answer is not passing more gun control laws.

Remember way back when (1966) at the University of Texas the guy started shooting people from the UT Tower? I have read in several places that what kept the body count down was that so many people in Texas owned guns they started firing back at that bastard and pinned him down. Had good people around the UT not owned guns the death toll would have been a lot higher. It was the 2nd Amendment! I must believe because our Founding Fathers wanted it there so people’s rights could be protected against a gov’t that might try taking away our rights. It wasn’t put there for hunting! It was put there so people could protect themselves, their rights- Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness, from a tyrannical gov’t that might rise up-

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

Nowhere does it say “people have the right to own guns so they are able to hunt deer, pigs, birds and whatnot”.

watcha gotta say?
