SCOTUS STRIKES MONTANA LAW FOR PRIVATE SCHOOLS

The Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday that states must allow religious schools to participate in programs that provide scholarships to students attending private schools

It is a decision that opened the door to more public funding of religious education.

Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, who has proposed a tax-credit program to help parents pay for private schools, called the decision “a historic victory”.

That means “families can use taxpayer funds to choose schools that match their values and educational goals.

That includes faith-based schools.”

The court’s 5-to-4 decision, with the more conservative members in the majority, did not directly affect public schools.

But their supporters said they feared it would help divert resources from public to private education.

  1. It will hurt the socialist agenda forced upon public schools by liberal legislators and school boards. Secondly, this decision is not even similar to the decision holding that transgender is a gender where the statute itself was clearly re-written by the SCOTUS. Today’s decision implements the traditional function of the SCOTUS, to determine if a statute goes too far in violating the constitution. The court did not reinterpret the statute. No, they straight out invalidated it. There is no dispute what it meant or could have meant. Most decisions made by the SCOTUS make my skin crawl, but every once in a very small while, the SCOTUS throws a tiny little token bread crumb out there for conservatives. Today’s decision means my son in private school gets a free lunch! Now, I know the city and county will fight me on this–BRING IT ON! They will lose.

      I agree Bob, it will have many rippling effects across the country. Public schools are out of control and people need more options for their kids to get an actual education, not the indoctrinations they get now.
