BIDEN VP CHOICE NARROWING DOWN TO TWO WOMEN

As presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden spends this week at his home in Delaware

Holding one-on-one meetings with roughly half-dozen contenders who have made his shortlist for running mate,

A new report speculates that the former vice president has narrowed his choices to two candidates.

Those two, according to Biden confidants who spoke with Axios, are Sen. Kamala Harris of California and Susan Rice

who served as national security adviser and ambassador to the United Nations under President Obama’s administration.

Last week, Biden told reporters that he would choose his party’s vice presidential nominee by “the first week in August.”

But a source familiar with the process told Fox News on Monday that “an announcement isn’t likely this week.”

With the Aug. 17 start of the Democratic National Convention nearing, …….

PARENTS PUNISH SON UNIQUELY

PARENTS PUNISH SON UNIQUELY

Arizona teenager forced to give away all belongings as punishment for taking joy ride in parents’ Range Rover

There was no joy in this ride.

A teenager from Arizona was caught taking his parents’
Range Rover out for a spin without permission,

Which led to a very public punishment.

Angel Martinez, 14, was forced to give away all of his belongings after his parents were alerted to his reckless ride,

Through their Phoenix neighborhood while they were in Las Vegas celebrating their wedding anniversary, Fox 10 reported.

In a series of photos, Angel is seen sitting on his bed, which was set-up in the driveway,

Along with his other bedroom furniture, clothes and a television. Next to him was a sign that read,

“Sorry I stole my parent’s car and was speeding.”

Ramon Martinez, Angel’s dad, and his wife received a call while they were in Vegas from the Phoenix police,

Informing them their Range Rover had been seen speeding in the neighborhood, the outlet reported.

PARENTS PUNISH SON UNIQUELY AFTER JOYRIDE

Angel, who does not have a license, says he took the car on a ride because he allegedly did not have anything to dry the car with after washing it.

“I’m gonna go for one spin until it dries,” he told Fox 10 of his thought process.

His parents were not on-board with the reasoning and they forced Angel to clean out his room as punishment.

“We’re neighbors as well,” Ramon Martinez told Fox 10.

“He could’ve run someone over. Something really bad could’ve happened.”

‘Kindergarten Cop’ screening canceled in Oregon compared to ‘Gone with the Wind’

OREGON: SCHWARZENEGGER FILM RACIST

The NW Film Center canceled an Aug. 6 outdoor screening of the 1990 movie “Kindergarten Cop,” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger,

After it was excoriated on Twitter for glorifying the traumatization of children by police,

And compared to “Birth of a Nation” and “Gone with the Wind.”

The film had been planned to serve as the kick-off event for a “Cinema Unbound” summer drive-in movie series at Zidell Yards, according to Willamette Week.

The movie stars Schwarzenegger as a detective who goes undercover as a kindergarten teacher in order to root out a drug dealer,

Whose child may be one of the students in the class. It was filmed in Astoria, Ore., and turns 30 in December of this year.

The NWFC chose it  “for its importance in Oregon filmmaking history,” according to a press release.

However, their stance quickly changed following a Saturday tweetstorm by left-leaning Portland author Lois Leveen.

Leveen went on a Twitter rant six tweets long about how the film is exploitative and has no comedic or redeeming qualities.

She also referenced a “school-to-prison” pipeline and claimed the police frequently arrest American children and throw them in jail.

“What’s so funny about School-to-Prison pipeline? Kindergarten Cop-Out: Tell @nwfilmcenterthere’s nothing fun in cops traumatizing kids.

National reckoning on overpolicing is a weird time to revive Kindergarten Cop. IRL, we are trying to end school-to-prison pipeline,” she began.

“There’s nothing entertaining about the presence of police in schools,

Which feeds the “school-to-prison” pipeline in which African American, Latinx, and other kids of color are criminalized rather than educated.”

Research Determines Protests Did Not Cause Spike In Coronavirus Cases

DIPSHIDIOT ARTICLE OF THE DAY ABOUT PROTESTERS

Protests against systemic racism held in 300-plus U.S. cities following the death of George Floyd,

Did not cause a significant increase in coronavirus infections,

According to a team of economists who have published their findings,

In a 60-page paper released by the National Bureau of Economic Research;

These somewhat surprising results are supported by Covid-19 testing data in many populous cities where demonstrations were held.

DIPSHIDIOT ARTICLE OF THE DAY ABOUT PROTESTORS

In the immediate aftermath of Floyd’s death,

Health officials expressed great concern that protesters,

Potentially yelling and shouting in very close proximity,

Would quickly spread the virus, which might lead to devastating outbreaks.

However, researchers found “no evidence that urban protests reignited Covid-19 case growth,

During the more than three weeks following protest onset.”

In fact, they determined that, based on cellphone data,

“cities which had protests saw an increase in social distancing behavior for the overall population,

Relative to cities that did not,” leading to “modest evidence of a small longer-run case growth decline.”

The study’s lead author, Dhaval Dave of Bentley University, said:

“In many cities, the protests actually seemed to lead to a net increase in social distancing,

As more people who did not protest decided to stay off the streets.”

The study used newly collected data from 315 of the largest U.S. cities and documents that protests took place in 281 of those cities.

The authors prereleased the paper last week, and it has not yet been peer-reviewed.

KEY BACKGROUND:

The study’s conclusions are supported by Covid-19 testing data in many of the cities that were home to prevalent protesting.

For instance, the Minneapolis Department of Health reported that more than 15,000 people were tested at centers,

Set up in communities affected by the protests, and 1.7% of tests came back positive,

Below the statewide average of about 3.6%.

According to the Washington Post, protest attendees in Minneapolis returned positivity rates of less than 1%,

And that “officials believe the low infection rates reflect that the protests were outside,

That most people wore masks and that people spent most of their time in motion, circulating through the crowd.”

NPR reported last week that parties—not protests—are believed to have caused coronavirus spikes in Washington.

“We’re finding that the social events and gatherings, these parties where people aren’t wearing masks,

Are our primary source of infection,” said Erika Lautenbach, a local county Health Department director.

TANGENT:

Earlier this week, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy partly blamed increased coronavirus cases on protesters.

“When I looked at that drone view of [Los Angeles], where it was almost a mile-long shoulder-to-shoulder of people,

And they’re expressing, they’re vocal . . . and now we’re finding that’s the easiest way to transmit to one another,

The long periods of time next to one another,” said McCarthy, a Republican who represents California.

In the NBER paper’s abstract, the authors write,

“We conclude that predictions of broad negative public health consequences of Black Lives Matter protests were far too narrowly conceived.”

CRITICAL QUOTE:

“When considering the results’ implications for the entire population:

public speech and public health did not trade off against each other in this case,” the authors wrote in the NBER paper.
