Alameda County Will Pay Residents With

Coronavirus to Quarantine at Home

ALAMEDA COUNTY CASH FOR COVID PROGRAM

Some people who test positive for COVID-19 in the East bay will soon get paid to stay at home.

Alameda County is rolling out a program that will give money to people who cannot afford to self-isolate.

The goal is to help curb the spread of COVID-19, especially in communities hardest hit by the virus.

“It’s not like the cold,” Alameda County Supervisor Wilma Chan said.

“People go to work with the cold. This is something that will affect the whole community.”

It’s the coronavirus conundrum that is impacting low-income people who test positive for COVID-19 — go to work and expose others?

Or stay at home and lose your paycheck and maybe your job?

“These are individuals that work in construction, work in restaurants, work in grocery stores,” said Jane Garcia, CEO of La Clinica De La Raza.

Garcia through La Clinica De La Raza treats uninsured and undocumented patients in Oakland.

“Their employer is asking them to provide documentation that they’ve tested negative or that they’re better,

And they really push back on us to give them that statement, that authorization to go back to work,” Garcia said.

Garcia said many of the people infected with COVID-19 live in multi-generational homes, which quickly become coronavirus clusters.

“One of the reasons people can’t isolate even when they’re sick is they don’t have any money,” Chan said.

Alameda County is now going to pay people regardless of their immigration status to quarantine — $1,250 to be exact.

CRITERIA

Those who apply must prove the following:

  • Have tested positive for COVID-19
  • Must show they cannot qualify for unemployment benefits or paid sick leave.
  • They must have a referral from specific clinics in high-risk areas.

“I think it helps us all because it’s going to allow those families to stay at home to quarantine and get better and that of course helps all of us,” Garcia said.

Chan said the county has set aside $10 million for this program, which is expected to help 7,500 people.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—According to sources in the Biden campaign, the presidential candidate is on pins and needles waiting to see who it is he picked to run for vice president on his ticket.

Campaign aides say it’s been Biden’s most anticipated event since he found out he was running for president a few weeks ago.

A reporter asked Biden if he could hint about his VP pick during a brief interlude from his stay in the basement,

Where he was allowed to come upstairs to get some snacks.

“Oh boy — I hope it’s a real classy broad,” he said as he drank straight from the milk jug.

“I bet I picked somebody good and smart. A chick with class and style.

You know, in my day, dames were dames and guys were guys.

None of this ‘guys becoming dolls’ and ‘dolls becoming guys’ stuff.

We would go down to the hop and do the mashed potato.

You know, there’s lots of good nnnn– nutrients and stuff in potatoes. Potato is a funny word.”

“Po – ta – to.”

“OK, Joe, let’s go,” said an aide, shoving him down into the basement.

“What Joe was trying to say is that he’s chosen a well-qualified candidate who will run the country — err,

I mean, help him run the country — with excellence.”

CHURCH’S WANTING SERVICES AGAIN

CHURCH’S WANTING SERVICES AGAIN

A pair of high-profile attorneys are representing a California pastor in his battle to hold worship services, despite local and state orders against large gatherings.

CHURCH’S WANTING SERVICES AGAIN IN LOS ANGELES

The Thomas More Society has announced that Jenna Ellis and Charles LiMandri will represent Pastor John MacArthur and Grace Community Church in Los Angeles, California, as special counsel.

“It’s not John MacArthur who is defying the U.S. Constitution or the law,” Jenna Ellis told OneNewsNow.

“It’s the state of California that is violating their constitutional obligation to preserve and protect churches,

And our free exercise of religion and our freedom of assembling together.”

State and local officials want people and organizations, including non-profits such as churches, to avoid gatherings in large numbers.

The stated reason is that it will combat the spread of COVID-19.

But speaking on The Todd Starnes Show, MacArthur said it’s not as big as threat today as people were told a few months ago,

and the church has been taking steps to clean and sanitize the facilities.

“There have been 9,000 people out of 40 million in California who have died, and half of them are over 80 and have all kinds of health issues,” said MacArthur.

“So, our members know the statistical reality that you have a 99.99% chance of not being affected by this, and certainly not in a deadly way.”

MacArthur said that thousands of people have been returning to services, adding they were not told to do so.

During the spring, MacArthur was preaching to empty auditoriums while Grace Community Church

And other places of worship temporarily closed and shifted toward online services.

“We have received essentially a cease-and-desist letter from the County of Los Angeles, from a private attorney for the county,

HEAVY FINES THREATENED

Threatening a $1,000 daily fine or even arrest and up to 90 days in jail,” Ellis told OneNewsNow.

“Whether or not they actually try to enforce that, we don’t think that would be legally binding or viable for them,

But that was a threat that they did receive in the form of a lengthy letter from the county.

“It’s our hope that we can resolve this favorably and that the city and county would recognize that they’re overstepping –

But I just want to be very clear that his heart here is one of he will stand firm, he is a warrior for truth,

And he will stand firm for the truth of God over anything else,” said Ellis about Pastor MacArthur.

DAWG SAYS: I AM NOT A CHURCH GOER BUT NOT ANTI CHURCH BY ANY MEANS.

THERE IS NO REASON PEOPLE CANNOT ATTEND A SERVICE JUST AS SAFE AS IF YOU GO TO WALMART OR COSTCO.

PROBABLY WITH LESS PEOPLE TOO.

TO MANY OF THESE PEOPLE CHURCH IS AN EXTREMELY ESSENTIAL NEED.

New York attorney general files lawsuit

to dissolve the National Rifle Association

NEW YORK VS NRA LAWSUIT

New York Attorney General Letitia James announced she will attempt to dissolve the National Rifle Association, accusing its senior leadership of violating laws governing non-profit groups, using millions from the organization’s reserves for personal use and tax fraud.

In a news release Thursday morning, James, a Democrat, alleged that current and former NRA leadership “instituted a culture of self-dealing mismanagement” benefiting themselves, family, friends and favored vendors, leading the organization to lose more than $63 million in three years.

“The NRA’s influence has been so powerful that the organization went unchecked for decades while top executives funneled millions into their own pockets,” James said in the news release

James’ office filed the suit Thursday morning in New York Supreme Court.

It names the NRA’s CEO and Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre, General Counsel and Secretary John Frazer, former Chief Financial Officer Wilson “Woody” Phillips and former Chief of Staff and Executive Director of General Operations Josh Powell.

While the NRA has headquarters in the Northern Virginia suburbs outside Washington, DC, the organization has operated as a New York-registered 501(c)(4) group since 1871, the news release stated.

The lawsuit marks an ambitious attempt by James to end one of the nation’s most influential interest groups, one that has played an outsized role in Republican politics.

ABOUT 5 MIL. MEMBERS

The NRA reports that it has about 5 million members across the country and works to defend Americans’ Second Amendment right to bear arms and has turned increasingly political in recent years — particularly in its political operation’s support of President Donald Trump.

James accuses the NRA of violating multiple laws including false reporting of annual filings with the IRS and New York’s charities bureau, improperly documenting expenses, improper wage and income tax reporting and excessively paying people for work for which they were not qualified.

Many of the charges stem from the NRA’s status as a charitable organization, which has strict state and federal rules governing spending.

The suit also asks the court to order LaPierre, Frazer, Phillips and Powell to make full restitution for “funds they unlawfully profited” and salaries earned while employees; to remove LaPierre and Frazer from the NRA’s leadership; and ensure that none of the four can ever serve on the board of any charity in New York.

James’ office confirmed it was investigating the NRA in 2019, after reporting by The Trace alleged that a small group of executives, contractors and vendors affiliated with the the group extracted hundreds of millions from the non-profit’s budget.

Thursday’s lawsuit punctuates a turbulent period for the nation’s foremost gun lobby.

THE OLIVER NORTH CONNECTION

The organization was roiled by a bitter leadership battle last year all while navigating an evolving political landscape on guns shaped by mass shootings and increasingly powerful gun safety groups.

The NRA had named Oliver North — whose name is synonymous with the Reagan-era Iran-Contra scandal — its president in 2018 as it grappled with a renewed push for gun control.

But as the organization gathered for its annual meeting in 2019, the news broke that LaPierre had told the organization’s board he was being extorted and pressured to resign by North.

The NRA later reelected LaPierre to his leadership position after North told NRA members — through a letter read during their annual meeting — that he had hoped to be renominated for a second term but had since been “informed that will not happen.”

It was during that turmoil when the New York Attorney General’s Office confirmed an investigation into the group.

“As part of this investigation, the Attorney General has issued subpoenas,” a spokesperson for James said in a statement to CNN at the time.

Will Shut Off Water & Power For Those Who Throw Big Parties

LOS ANGELES OFFICIALS GET NASTY ABOUT LARGE PARTIES

Mayor Eric Garcetti at a briefing on August 5, 2020.

Today, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced a punitive measure,

For those who are still throwing large gatherings or parties in the midst of a global pandemic.

Throw a big party and you risk having your water and power shut off.

“While we have already closed all nightclubs and bars,

These large house parties have essentially become nightclubs in the Hollywood Hills,” Garcetti said during a briefing today.

“Many times, the homes are vacant or used for short-term rentals.

And beyond the noise, traffic, and nuisance, these large parties are unsafe and can cost Angelenos their lives.”

Garcetti said he has authorized the city to shut off LADWP service in the “egregious cases” in which houses,

Businesses, or other venues host large, unpermitted gatherings.

Starting on Friday, if the LAPD responds and confirms a gathering at a property,

They will provide notice and initiate a process that requests LADWP shut off service within the next 48 hours.

This enforcement does not apply to small gatherings at someone’s home, even though you’re not supposed to have those either.

Garcetti specifically called out a house party earlier this week at a mansion on in Beverly Crest.

That party turned deadly when a 35-year-old woman was shot and killed and two others were injured.

Also this week, Los Angeles County issued a “legally binding” ban on large parties and gatherings.

Violators could face imprisonment, fines, or both.

DAWG SAYS:

SO……. THE CITY CONSIDERS IT AN UNSAFE ENVIROMENT FOR THESE LARGE PARTIES.

SO……. THEY ARE GOING TO SHUT OFF WATER AND SEWER AND POWER THROUGH A GESTAPO TACTIC.

SO……. THEY CAN CREATE ANOTHER UNSANITARY CONDITION AT SOMEONES HOME.

STUDY: WEED NOT GOOD FOR THE HEART

NEW INFO ABOUT MARIJUANA

You may love smoking weed, but it does not love your heart, according to the American Heart Association’s new scientific statement on marijuana.

“The American Heart Association recommends that people not smoke or vape any substance, including cannabis products,

because of the potential harm to the heart, lungs and blood vessels,” said Dr. Rose Marie Robertson,

the deputy chief science and medical officer for the American Heart Association, in a statement.

Smoking weed and coronavirus: Even occasional use raises risk of Covid-19 complications

The new scientific statement, published Wednesday in the AHA journal Circulation,

Examined existing research on the connection between cannabis and the heart.

The statement found using weed has “the potential to interfere with prescribed medications”

As well as “trigger cardiovascular conditions or events, such as heart attacks and strokes,”

Said clinical pharmacologist Robert Page II, who chaired the medical writing group for the statement.

Anyone planning to use marijuana should discuss possible risks with their health professional first,

Said Page, who is a professor in the department of clinical pharmacy and physical medicine/rehabilitation,

At the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Aurora, Colorado.

Today’s high potency weed raises risk of anxiety and addiction, study says

“If people choose to use cannabis for its medicinal or recreational effects, the oral and topical forms,

For which doses can be measured, may reduce some of the potential harms,” Page said in a statement.

IT IS HALARIOUS THAT OUTLETS LIKE CNN PUSHED HARD FOR THE MARIJUANA LEGALIZATION, AND TOUTED THE MEDICINAL BENEFITS.
