HENDERSON USES CARES ACT MONEY FOR THE CITY

Henderson is using $2 million of coronavirus relief money to pay for an expansion of a City Hall entrance.

Council members voted last week to expand the lobby outside the City Council chambers.

The vote added $2 million to an existing $14 million project to renovate the plaza and street in front of City Hall.

To complete the lobby portion of the project, council members approved the use of money from the federal CARES Act.

The vote comes as Henderson, like other governments, grapples with the financial squeeze of the pandemic.

Henderson is spending twice as much money on the lobby expansion as it currently is on a grant program for businesses.

Meanwhile, North Las Vegas, which received less CARES Act money from the county,

has put $3.25 million into a small-business grant program, a spokesman said.

City officials say the expansion will help with social distancing,

But the project had been discussed months before the coronavirus pandemic put normal life in America on hold.

Henderson was awarded nearly $30 million in CARES Act money from Clark County,

After the city missed out on a direct allocation of the aid.

The city is required to provide monthly reports of its use of the money.

The wide-ranging relief bill allows governments to recoup costs associated with the response to the coronavirus pandemic,

And may also be used for programs such as those that help small businesses.

Federal relief money may not be used on capital improvement projects that are not necessary due to the public health emergency,

According to U.S. Department of the Treasury guidelines.

However, the guidance does allow for the money to be spent on projects that improve mitigation measures.

Henderson Chief Financial Officer Jim McIntosh said the lobby project is an allowable use of relief money,

Because it brings the city in compliance with public health measures.

By contrast, North Las Vegas said it is spending less than $300,000 on modifying workspaces to allow for social distancing.

Henderson Assistant City Manager Robert Herr told council members last Tuesday that the project would add room for people to stand in line for security.

He said now is a good time to complete the project because the entry is already shut down while construction is underway outside.

The two-story expansion will add about 1,700 square feet to each floor, according to the city.

Its health screening space would include “enhanced air filtration/exchange”

And temperature screenings as part of the metal detector, city spokeswoman Kathleen Richards said in an email.

The project is expected to be complete by the end of December, she has said.

NEVADA ADVENTURES IN A FUN TOWN OF TONOPOH

Many of Nevada’s towns still look like places that are straight out of the Wild West, and Tonopah is no different.

Walking down the main street, you get the feeling that this town has a long and fascinating history.

Tonopah started the same way the majority of Nevada’s towns began—with the strike of silver.

The town hasn’t let this fact become forgotten. In fact,

You can visit the Tonopah Historic Mining Park and explore more than 100 acres of incredible mining history including mine shafts, caves, buildings, and more.

It’s places like this that jump-started Nevada as a state.

Nevada is home to an abundance of historic structures, but the Mitzpah Hotel is by far one of the coolest.

This beautiful hotel has been the town’s crown jewel since 1907.

Spend the night in the Mitzpah for a real taste of Nevada history.

Here in Nevada, we love a good ghost story. Well, Tonopah has plenty of those.

The Old Tonopah Cemetery is another point of interest in the town and it’s definitely one of the most fascinating cemeteries in the state.

Stroll through the cemetery and peruse the 300 graves of Nevada’s earliest residents.

Our state is no stranger to the weird, the creepy, and the downright bizarre.

You’ll find some of that weirdness right here in Tonopah with a visit to the infamous Clown Motel.

Stay the night if you dare, but this is definitely one of the oddest attractions Nevada has to offer.

A visit to any small town isn’t complete without a stop at the local watering hole.

Serving up delicious barbecue and legendary brews,

Tonopah Brewing Company encompasses everything we love about small town eats!

Finanly, if there’s one thing we love about Nevada, it’s the remoteness.

Being able to look up at the sky at night and see millions of stars twinkling back at you is definitely something we don’t take for granted.

Tonopah is notable for offering up some of the best stargazing in the state. It really doesn’t get more Nevada than this.

COMMENTARY ON FRANK CARSON’S DEATH

Just a quick observation of the events of the last few days.

One thing I noticed in society these days is that people have become enabled to exhibit extremely rude behavior.

Especially the keyboard warriors that do it under anonymous comments and fake profiles.

It seems to be standard practice these days for many shit heads to act like idiots just because they can.

There have been many nasty comments towards the passing of Frank Carson on other Facebook pages and websites.

I don’t know what benefit people would gain from that but it’s shallow, childish, and shows how big of shit heads people can be.

STANISLAUS NEWS IS ONE OF THOSE PAGES

Stanislaus news Facebook group page was one of those Facebook pages, that shows how idiotic and insensitive people can be.

It is no surprise due to one administrator who had inserted himself in the Frank Carson et al. case by doing recordings of people at the POP N CORK liquor store,

Also in the parking lot of the courthouse, and immediately taking all this information to Marlisa Ferriera and Kirk Bunch.

He was seen on numerous occasions socializing and talking to the DAs representatives.

Also of note at that time he had at least 2 Pending Court cases with multiple felony charges.

He also was involved in attempts to disrupt the podcasts, and many nasty comments on the website.

Especially during the time, he was getting treated for his illness at Stanford Hospital.

This is very angry man in the way that he displayed his personality and his thought process.

It appears that his activities did work in his favor as his cases were dismissed by none other than Marlisa Ferriera.

This man also needs to be careful because a lot of information from his past has been revealed, and I guarantee that he will not want that information brought out.

KOREY KAUFFMAN WAS NEVER ATTACKED ON DAWGS BLOG

Also of note the alleged victim in the Frank Carson et al. case was never degraded or put down because of his lifestyle that he chose to undertake.

It was never allowed on Dawgs blog, is not the adult thing to do and simply just not proper.

The young man left this world entirely too early, but that is one of the dangers of living the lifestyle that he chose.

But the family and friends of this young man have decided to be very vocal about the passing of Frank Carson and it simply a gutter trash thing to do.

And I don’t know why they feel the need to do such things, maybe it’s because they don’t want to admit who this young man really was.

I have also seen numerous comments in regard to karma and how that related to Frank Carson,

If that’s how it works than that would be karma that related to Korey Kauffman who was involved in the activities that he was involved in.

THEY OBVIOUSLY READ THE BLOG

And I did think it was hilarious when one person put up a screenshot of Dawgs blog’s report of the passing of Frank Carson and called it a “sketchy site.”

Note: just for fun I did get the description of sketchy:

1 : of the nature of a sketch : roughly outlined. 2 : wanting in completeness, clearness, or substance : slight, superficial the details are sketchy.

Sketchy | Definition of Sketchy by Merriam-Webster

http://www.merriam-webster.com › dictionary › sketchy

It appears gutter talk does not understand the meaning of the words used in their trash talk.

Frank Carson endured, like all the defendants did, a lot of things that should have never happened.

There was never any evidence put forth in this case that showed any involvements from the Carson et al. group.

There is no DNA, blood evidence, fingerprints, videos, audios, eyewitnesses, to show any involvement whatsoever.

It simply a case that never should’ve been an arrest made let alone taken to trial.

I’d like to commend all the massive viewers on Dawgs blog that viewed, commented, liked, shared, on the blog website or on the Facebook pages that it was put on,

And not one negative comment was made about the alleged victim in this case, about who we was in the lifestyle that he lived.

COMMENTARY ON FRANK CARSON’S DEATH

DAWGS BLOG READERS SHOWED CLASS

It shows that there is a better class of people out there in the world that just wanted to simply share their condolences to each other and especially the family.

This was the greatest honor that you could just bestowed on Frank Carson and his memory, it was an incredibly classy thing to do by all.

I did not have to remove any comments for being inappropriate, listen to any complaints about other comments,

It was just simply a huge outpouring of compassion towards Frank Carson and to his family and friends.

That is definitely not true of the other Facebook pages and websites that were talking a lot a gutter talk regarding Frank Carson.

Let them have that talk we have shown that we are better than that.

I am honored to have all you people as followers and readers and participants of the blog.

Just a note to tell you how pleased I am how you have responded and rose above the gutter talk.

Sadly too many of the other people have chosen to take the gutter route. Remembering

Remember, we can’t change others only ourselves.

Thank you all so much. You rose above it and showed class.

SINCERELY,

DAWG

SEAHAWKS ROOKIE CUT DUE A WOMAN

DIPSHIDIOT OF THE DAY: KEMAH SIVERAND SNEAKS WOMAN INTO HOTEL

This is not the start to his football career that Kemah Siverand was hoping to have.

The Seattle Seahawks reportedly cut the undrafted rookie out of Oklahoma State this week,

After he was caught sneaking a woman into a hotel where the team was staying during training camp,

The NFL Network reported on Thursday.

Siverand was caught on video attempting to sneak in a female visitor,

Who was reportedly wearing team gear “in an attempt to disguise her as a player.”

“If it was a non-COVID year,

We would be trying to keep the team as isolated as can be just to keep the focus on what we’re doing and build that training camp atmosphere,” he explained.

“Our players can either opt in or opt out of a hotel stay.

The ones that are in have a curfew.

We’ve expressed to the ones on the outside that they have to make the right decisions when they are away from the building,

In terms of how they structure their nights.”

The Seahawks definitely felt Siverand wasn’t making the right decision

An action that carries greater consequences amid a pandemic.
