RETRO TV: THE THIRD MAN

The Third Man was a TV series which ran from 1959 to 1965.

It was based on the novel and film The Third Man and starred Michael Rennie as Harry Lime.

The series was a co-production between the NTA Film Network and the BBC.

The first twenty episodes were shot at 20th Century Fox studios in Hollywood.

Later episodes were filmed at Shepperton Studios and Associated-British Elstree Studios, in England.[1]

  1. The Zither ( also spelled Zyther in 1950s ) is a beautiful instrument tonally but difficult to play with any mastery. I saw the “Third Man Theme” in 1950 and would recognize the theme anywhere and on other stringed instruments. Beautiful music and eerie movie, maybe filmed in Vienna.
