Portland protesters topple Lincoln, Roosevelt statues during ‘Day of Rage’

Portland absorbed another night of violent protests Sunday that resulted in the toppling of two statues in the city and reports of numerous buildings with their windows smashed in, including the Oregon Historical Society.

The unrest was reportedly tied to the “Day of Rage” on the eve of Columbus Day.

Andy Ngo, a journalist who has been documenting the unrest in the city, posted images of the destruction on Twitter. The Oregonian reported that protesters managed to bring down statues of Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt.

Ngo posted a video of what he identified as the protesters toppling the statue of Roosevelt, which depicts the former president riding on horseback. The video showed a rope tied around the statue and protesters could be heard cheering when the statue shifted.

One person could be heard saying,  “F— all you colonizers. Every one of you that’s against Black Lives Matter can f— the f— off.”

The report said the Roosevelt statue fell at about 8:51 p.m., local time, and the Lincoln statue fell about eight minutes later in Portland’s South Park Block. The paper said the police did not intervene.

BTW LINCOLN WAS THE GUY WHO FREED THE SLAVES. BUT I DO NOT THINK THEY CARE.

IS BIDENS CABINET BEING SELECTED

IS BIDENS CABINET BEING SELECTED

REPORT: BIDEN CONSIDERING NY GOVERNOR CUOMO AS AG

CUOMO SAYS NO

Democratic donors within Cuomo’s orbit have reportedly told the outlet that Cuomo is being pushed for the attorney general job and that Biden is considering him for the role based on their decades-long friendship.

An attorney general within a Biden administration would be under political pressure to go after former Trump administration officials and manage nationwide unrest over police violence, among other pressing issues.

Biden’s campaign team has declined to comment. Cuomo’s office did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

Tim Murtaugh, Director of Communications for Trump’s 2020 campaign, told Fox News: “There is zero chance that President Trump will appoint Gov. Cuomo attorney general in his second term.”

Asked earlier this year by ABC’s “Good Morning America” whether he would accept a potential Cabinet post within a Biden administration, Cuomo said he is content to remain Governor of New York.

Donald Neely, 44, was arrested for criminal trespassing in August 2019 before two mounted Galveston police officers handcuffed him and led him by rope down several city blocks.

A Black man in Texas whose arrest garnered national attention after White mounted police officers were seen leading him by rope is now suing the city of Galveston and its police department for $1 million.

Donald Neely, 44, suffers from mental illness and was homeless at the time when he was arrested for criminal trespassing at the Park Board of Galveston on Aug. 3, 2019, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Two officers “clipped” a rope to his handcuffs and led him through downtown streets to a mounted patrol staging area, the Galveston Police Department said in a statement shortly after the arrest. A transport unit wasn’t immediately available at the time.

The images shared online of the two White officers leading Neely using a rope tied to his handcuffs — reminiscent of pictures showing slaves in chains — sparked public outrage at the time.

A lawsuit filed in Galveston County court last week by Julie Ketterman, a Houston-based attorney, argues the two officers “knew or should have believed that Neely — being a Black man — being led with a rope and by mounted officers down a city street as though he was a slave, would find this contact offensive.”

Neely is seeking $1 million in damages for emotional distress, malicious prosecution, and negligence. He’s also demanding a trial by jury.

“Neely felt as though he was put on display as slaves once were,” the lawsuit states, according to KPRC. “He suffered from fear because one of the horses was acting dangerously, putting Neely in fear of being drug down the street by a run-away horse.”

Galveston Police Chief Vernon L. Hale III issued an apology in the aftermath of the arrest, explaining that though the officers “showed poor judgment” and should have waited for a transport unit, they “did not have any malicious intent” and the department changed its policy of using mounted horses to transport people placed under arrest in most scenarios.

Police body camera video released months later showed the two officers, Patrick Brosch and Amanda Smith, wondering aloud about the optics of walking Neely to jail without getting their truck first.

“This is gonna look really bad,” one officer says, adding: “I’m glad you’re not embarrassed, Mr. Neely.”

NO EXCUSE FOR THIS TYPE STUFF.

Antifa rioters who targeted Portland cafe ‘solidified’ his Trump vote, military veteran says

PORTLANDS HEROES CAFÉ VANDALIZED BY ANTIFA

A cafe owned by a military veteran was shot at during a chaotic demonstration in Portland over the weekend after being deemed by rioters as unfriendly to the Black Lives Matter movement.

Heroes American Cafe was targeted for being an “unfriendly business” by so-called Antifa-linked Twitter accounts, owner John Jackson told Fox News.

Two windows in the cafe’s downtown location were shot at and another was struck with a blunt object — possibly a baseball bat — said Jackson, a Black man who served in the Amry and Marines Corps.

“I think it’s more psychological,” he said. “When I first came here [Portland] about 10 years ago, it was one of the most accepting cities that I knew of.”

A tweet posted Thursday by @DublinPDX said the cafe gives its profits “to their heroes… cops” and railed against businesses that support law enforcement.

“We’re trying to compile a list of all non-friendly businesses in PDX,” read a screenshot of another tweet. “AKA any company that’s hanging blue lives garbage in their store or anything else that’s anti the BLM movement. Drop them below.”
