You Can Spend The Night In A Covered Wagon At This Unique Campsite In Northern California

We have to give props to California’s early settlers. Traveling across the country in a covered wagon was probably not an ideal situation. No bed. No air conditioning. No comforts of home. However, covered wagons have come a long way since then. There’s even a campsite at Yosemite that offers “glamping” options in the form of covered wagons. These wagons are far from the ones our region’s ancestors used. In fact, they are completely decked out so that guests will feel right at home when they spend the night in them. For a one-of-a-kind camping adventure unlike any other, you’ll definitely want to check these things out.

If you’re the type of person that loves exploring Northern California’s natural landscapes but doesn’t exactly love the sleepin’-on-the-ground type of camping, then you’ll definitely be interested in this unique “glamping” option. These Oregon Trail-style covered wagons are a far cry from the ones emigrants traveled with centuries ago, and they’re kind of amazing.

Yosemite Pines RV Resort & Family Lodging recently unveiled a new option for campers: covered wagons. However, these covered wagons are special. Completely decked out with all of your essential amenities, staying in one of these will almost feel like staying in a swanky AirBnB.

These large Conestoga covered wagons can sleep four to six people. They feature a king size bed, air conditioning, heat, and even a refrigerator and microwave. Who knew Wild West living was so luxurious?

All wagons do including some camping essentials, like a fire pit and picnic table. Combining the creature comforts that you crave and the rustic-ness of outdoor camping, these wagons truly are the best of both worlds.

Bathrooms and showers are located nearby for your convenience, along with a community swimming pool and volleyball courts. Now, this is definitely my style of camping!

Comfort does come at a cost. Wagons run anywhere from $139 to $209 a night, depending on what day of the week and whether you book during the off-season. They do offer group, military, and senior discounts, along with consecutive day discounts. More info on that here.

These covered wagons may not be wildly authentic, but they are definitely cool. Best of all, the breathtaking Yosemite National Park is just steps away from it all. Plan a camping trip you’ll remember for years to come and give them a try!
