NEVADA ADVENTURES: ROAD KILL GRILL

This Restaurant In Nevada Doesn’t Look Like Much – But The Food Is Amazing

Nevada is home to plenty of fantastic dining destinations, but the very best ones are the hole-in-the-wall locations you’d least expect. There’s just something so satisfying about stumbling across a place that doesn’t look like much but has amazing food. John Mull’s Road Kill Grill is the perfect example. The name may not sound super appetizing, but this humble shack serves up some of the best BBQ in the state, if not the entire country. This place isn’t fancy by means, but the food will blow you away.

Appearances are far from everything, especially when it comes to restaurants. John Mull’s Road Kill Grill proves just that. It may look like just a shack on the side of the road, but you’ll soon see it’s SO much more than that.

In fact, John Mull’s has become famous for serving up some of the most delicious barbecue in all of Nevada. It was even featured on Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives”, and for good reason. This place does not mess around when it comes to meat.

Named after the founder, John Mull, who moved to Southern Nevada in 1938 and opened the meat market in 1954, the restaurant is extremely based in tradition. Although, they no longer slaughter animals on the premises like they did in the early days.

However, the attention to detail and quality of meats has definitely stayed the same for the decades the market and restaurant has been open. Created with their own blend of seasonings and smoked on-site, barbecue doesn’t get any better than this.

Visitors can stop by the market and pick up some quality meats for a great price. They notably boast prices that are as good or better than your average grocery store. Plus, you get the expertise on how to cook and grill the meat in your own home so you can impress family and friends.

A stop at the market is never complete without grabbing some mighty fine BBQ to enjoy right away. The menu is vast and includes chicken, rib tips, pulled pork, brisket, ribs, hot links, burnt ends, and so much more. We’d recommend trying a bit of everything if you can stomach it!

There’s a reason the Road Kill Grill has been around for so long. It’s because they are simply the best around. Don’t let its humble appearance fool you because this place knows what they’re doing when it comes to serving some mouthwatering barbecue!

NEVADA ADVENTURES: VIEW WILD HORSE HERDS

The Magical Place In Nevada Where You Can View A Wild Horse Herd

It’s no secret that Nevada is a wildlife enthusiast’s paradise, especially if you love spotting wild horses. After all, our state is home to the nation’s most wild horses and burros. That’s pretty incredible! Finding a herd of wild horses out in the wilderness can be tricky, but it always pays off. Seeing a wild horse with your own eyes is an experience unlike any other. If you’ve never seen a wild horse before but you’d like to, you may want to head to the one magical spot that’s considered the best place to spot a wild horse herd in the Silver State. The Virginia Range is considered prime territory for horse viewing so keep reading to learn all about it!

Wild horses can be found all over the state of Nevada, but there’s one special spot that’s undoubtedly the best place to find them: The Virginia Range. This is a magical area that is home to arguably the most famous herd of wild horses in Nevada, and you have to see them.

Located in the high desert of western Nevada, in between Virginia City and Reno, The Virginia Range is home to approximately 2,000 wild horses. These aren’t your typical wild horses, though. In fact, there’s an incredible story behind them.

These horses were the ones that inspired a woman named Velma Johnston, aka Wild Horse Annie, to lead a movement to protest the ruthless manner in which wild horses were being rounded up for commercial purposes.

Her movement led to the passing of the “Wild Horse Annie Act” in 1959. The bill prohibited the use of motorized vehicles to hunt wild horses and burros on all public lands. Today, these majestic animals are known as “Annie’s Horses”, and they are simply incredible to see in-person.

Today, Storey County sees all sorts of visitors who have traveled far and wide just to get a glimpse of Annie’s Horses. It’s easy to see why. Seeing one of these beautiful mustangs in the wild is an experience that will leave you mesmerized.

It’s hard to find words that accurately describe the experience. After all, these horses are one of the last remaining symbols of the Wild West. They represent all that is wild and free in the great state of Nevada.

If you do visit these breathtaking creatures, keep in mind that it is illegal to feed them. Additionally, you don’t want to get too close to them, considering they are indeed wild animals. However, the precautions are worth it, because this is an experience you’ll never forget.

NOR CAL ADVENTURES: THE RED TRIANGLE (VIDEO)

NOR CAL ADVENTURES: THE RED TRIANGLE

The Story Behind California’s Red Triangle Is Terrifying But True

California is famous for its gorgeous beaches, but there’s a particular stretch of ocean that has a bloody reputation.

California’s “Red Triangle” is the site of over 1/3 of great white shark attacks. The danger zone begins around Bodega Bay and extends south about 50 miles west of San Francisco. The triangle juts out beyond the Farallon Islands and down to Big Sur south of Monterey. The triangle encompasses about 200 miles of coastline.

So why do 38 percent of all great white shark attacks happen in this relatively small area? Researchers believe it’s due in part to the plentiful elephant seals, harbor seals, sea lions and sea otters. While sharks do attack humans, they actually prefer to feed on these animals.

Even though this phenomenon may sound scary, it’s important to remember that shark attacks are pretty rare. In fact, only 5 to 15 percent of them are fatal.Rather than specifically hunting humans for food, sharks are thought to be naturally inquisitive creatures and researchers believe that they usually approach humans out of curiosity rather than hunger. However, this curiosity means that they are sometimes willing to “taste test” new objects.

Swimmers and surfers enjoying the waters of the Red Triangle are urged to stay alert and use good judgement. Check out this video from National Geographic for more information about the Red Triangle.

EXPLORERS SPENT 28 DAYS IN THE OCEAN

EXPLORERS SPENT 28 DAYS IN THE OCEAN

French team spent 28 days inside a capsule exploring sea depths

  • Every day, the steel capsule, which measures one square metre, was lowered from a barge in the water
  • When they were brought back to the surface at the end of every day, their capsule was connected to other pressurized chambers

After 28 days below the sea at a crushing depth of 120 meters, a team of four researchers emerged into the sunshine at the French Mediterranean port of Marseille on Sunday.

The team, led by marine naturalist and underwater photographer Laurent Ballesta, celebrated with family and friends Sunday evening after a three-day period spent in a decompression chamber.

This was not quite Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues under the Sea and the canary-yellow capsule in which they made their descent was not quite a submarine.

But the diving bell that was their home for four weeks allowed them to spend up to eight hours a day at 120 meters (395 feet) below the sea without having to worry about getting the bends when they resurfaced.
